MAIJA EINFELDE (b. 1939)

Latvia

The Latvian composer Maija Einfelde was born in Valmiera, January 2, 1939. Her father was an organ-builder and her mother an organist. She studied composition with Janis Ivanovs at the Conservatoire of Latvia, graduating in 1966. Since 1968 she has been teaching composition and music theory in various music schools.
